What is Bereavement?
Bereavement refers to the period of grief and mourning following the death of a loved one. It is a normal and natural response to loss, involving a range of emotional, physical, and psychological reactions. The process of bereavement can vary widely among individuals, depending on factors such as the nature of the relationship, circumstances of the death, personal coping mechanisms, cultural practices, and previous experiences with loss. While most people gradually adapt to their loss, some may experience complicated grief, where the symptoms of bereavement are intense, prolonged, and interfere significantly with daily life. In such cases, professional intervention is crucial to help the individual work through their grief and find a path to healing.
